Begining the Paint Process

This is the stock original paint for this 260Z. I'll post up the name of the color later when I ask my cousin what it is.


Trimming out the inside of the door.


I don't know why you need to see the other door but here it is.


Inside the hatch area. This area looked much more impressive in person.


Here the rocker panels show off this color better than any of the other pictures.


The underside of the hood and the engine bay were painted to match the factory look. The engine bay was almost as dramatic a change as the interior of this car. Unfortunately I don't think he has any pictures that show off this transformation.


Once the paint on the inside had dried, wet sanding of the body started.


Wet sanding with 500 grit sand paper in the paint booth serves multiple purposes. First it was dark outside and the lights in the booth were perfect to see if all the scratches were removed. Second the humidity it creates cuts down on the dust in the paint booth which makes for a better paint job. And of course it removes all the scratches from the coarser grits of sand paper to give the paint a very nice finish.
