Thanks for the encouragement, but its probably going to be a story that takes two years or more to finish.
The pedals have been removed from the manual donor car, along with the top of the transmission tunnel.

The automatic and manual shifter locations are in different spots. All you have to do is swap out the transmission cover plates and everything should line up. Hopefully

Here is the automatic car with the tunnel in tact, soon to be cut for the manual plate installation. You can see the difference in the openings for the automatic shifter verses the wide hole for the manual shift mechanism. Once its completed there shouldn't be any indications that the car was ever an automatic. The VIN numbers for Corollas this old never showed the options of the car.
Here is a comparison of the hood before and after soda blasting off rust and paint.

As you can see the soda blasting is very mild. So mild in fact that it left some rust and paint still on the hood. Some recommend washing off the soda with soap and water. The hood still has rust on it so instead its wiped with paint thinner. His past experience when you wash it with soap and water, the primer surfacer and filler did not stick. So he went over it with a red scuff pad which is equal to about 320 grit sand paper. Then sprayed it with etch primer. Etch primer contains zinc chromate and phosphoric acid that eat into the paint and hold better to prevent further rust. However, you still must have another layer of primer over it before it can be painted on because the etch primer is so thin it doesn't cover any imperfections, primer surfacer must be used to help fill in the rough surface.

This is the trim piece that goes on the front of the hood. You can see how bad the rust ate through the metal. They don't make these new anymore, so it all has to be fixed. Cutting out the bad portions of metal would be an optimal solution, but because of the shape and thickness of the metal, welding in new patch pieces would warp the metal beyond practical use. So it looks like metal filler will be used. Metal filler is also water proof unlike normal body filler, which will help aid the prevention of future rust.
