Whats so special about them??

first of all. im buying a 94 integra from a friend of mine. he has a jdm b16a engine in it. my question is, whats so special about them? and the car is slow. he said something about its running with a LS tranny and he also said with a b16 tranny it should be decently quick. true story?

nothing really special about the b16. it just happens to be a really popular choice for swaps on my different applications because of its aftermarket support and simplicity as far as the swap itself. they've been known to make decent power for a budget build.

i see. do they put down more power then the usdm b16s?

and my girlfriend has a LS non vtec integra. also an auto. i was driving her car and raced my friend and i kept up with his car. i mean really? tranny does that much of a difference? i was a little shocked to be honest. how much quicker would the car get after i swap out the tranny to a b16?

It'll be quicker with a transmission with gear ratios that match the power band of the engine.

the reason a b16 tranny has short gears is becaue b16's have power up in high rpm's. so with the shorter gears you can get there quicker.
