99 GSR need more power

Hay i have a 99 GSR, I have a type r head, DC ceramic headers, comptech cat back, a lame short ram intake and msd ignition. I was thinking about getting a vtech controller but i have been reading and it sounds like its a waste of my time and i might even loose power. I am looking for a way to get some more power out of it without spending mega money. Its not fast enough anymore. Anyone who can help me i would really appreciate it. Thanks

when you had the typeR head put on, did you get it tuned?

well, if your not to sure about it being tuned already, i would find out. because if its not your deff losing power.

also a type r head on a gsr block also lowers the compression, if you get it tuned you should get around 10-15 more hp.

i know it lowers the compression, but not to sure how much. low compression is good for turbo, but if you are going to keep it all motor then higher compression is better. im not to sure what your compression would be now, so i would find out what it is.

why would a b18c head lower the compression ? do a compression test, change your oil and spark plugs, change the fuel filter, put some 94 octane in there. go get tuned on a dyno for some nitrous and ride around

because a the combustion chamber volume is different. and to OP i found out that the compression for type r head on a gsr block is around 9:8:1, and with a 2 layer head gasket will bring it up to 10:1.

Compression ratio! It lowers the compression ratio, not the compression. I believe Rascles is referring to compression pressure across the cylinders.

I believe you could find some missing power by getting tuned if your ECU is not calibrated for your setup. I recommend something like the Apexi AFC-Neo or Hondata and a tuner that knows what they are doing.
