Well.

Any factory turbo car will benefit the most, as far as gaining power with the stock setup goes, from a less restrictive intake and exhaust, so something like the K&N filter kit, a downpipe and a catback would give you quite the bump in power.

Boost controller should come after those mods, as it's pointless to throw more boost at the car when the intake and exhaust are both still restrictive.

A turbo manifold is kinda pointless for that motor, especially if you're going to keep the stock turbo for now. Maybe if you just want a "blinged out" version of the manifold to show your friends or something.

Turbo timers are the biggest waste of money, and again, pretty much for the people that are looking for attention of getting out of the car and locking it, then walking away, for others to be like "hey your car's still on". What you can do is just to sit there and wait like maybe 10 seconds after you get to your destination, then shut it off. Your stock turbo is water cooled I'm pretty sure, which means it's not going to have issues like some of the non water cooled turbos will have.

Even if it's non water cooled, you don't sit there for like 5 minutes for your turbo to cool down, maybe like a minute, so just get to your destination, gather your stuff, chill out and listen to the radio for a second or whatever, then shut your car down and get out.

As for the blow off valve, the Evo comes with a pretty decent one from the factory, so unless you want attention/bling factor, there really is no real hurry to get a new one. Shoot, you can buy the 1g DSM (first gen DSM) ones for less than $50, and those are made with metal, and you can "crush" them and they'll hold like over 20psi, so...

That should give you an idea of what to buy in terms of the order to buy them in.

As for brand, go for something that's in your price range, and that there'll be warranty on.

Personally, I'd look into either GReddy or Apex'i exhaust, maybe even JIC, and K&N intake filter. If you must get a non DSM BOV, then I'd recommend either the GReddy Type-R or the HKS SQV... the Blitz hates partial throttle from what I've personally witnessed (happened to friends).

With electronics like boost controllers or gauges, I'd go with either HKS or Apex'i. GReddy electronics suck, and Blitz seem to be over priced, but works well.

Of course there are American companies making the same things too, but I'd only really trust AEM's electronics.

Do some research, look around, sign up on EvoM.net's forum and learn about the car and what people put on them.

With a dsm or evo its really a simple mod process that most people follow.

The first thing is the intake and air filter.
second is the exhaust. you can get a turbo back exhaust but if you have emissions you have to play the switch ur exhaust game. if thats not for you just get a 3" exhaust from the cat back. i also agree with the above brands. i like apexi or greddy exhausts.
Me personally i only use AEM electronics in my car when i can i trust them the most but others will work.
DO NOT get the sunpro gauges from ur local autozone they just suck!

you don't need a exhaust manifold until you get a different turbo or your going for show, if you wanted you could take it off and have it ported as well as the 02 housing but it won't yeld much power gain.

don't waste your time on a turbo timer but make sure you wait about a minute before you shut off ur car its best for the turbo to give it a minute to cool down and let all the fluids drain out if you were getting on it. other wise letting all the hot oil in the turbo sit in it could/will fry it and those turbos aren't cheap even stock.

if your still looking for a bit more power the next step has to be a boost controller and i suggest a manual one. electronic boost controllers are super expensive and not needed in anyway. but you have to get a boost gauge installed before the boost controller other wise how the hell do you know what psi ur at?

always use 93 octane!

Do some research and find out what ur limit is on ur psi for your setup because if you go too high you'll lean out ur mixture, or stretch ur head studs and pop ur head gasket, and very bad things will happen! trust me! its very important

after this point everything else is determined by what you want out of the car. do you want a certain 1/4 time? horsepower goal? looks? those questions will help you determine on exactly what else you mod, what kind and what level of modding you do.

along the lines of hard piping all the intercooler piping, blow off valve, turbo, exhaust manifold, tuning device, fuel mods, tires, etc...

In my opinion if your going for just a little boost in power and sound go with the above first mods. but/and if you think ur going to or want more power sit down and pick a goal and setup everything you do to reach that goal so you don't buy for an example: one set of injectors this month. just do turn up the boost and by bigger injectors later. on the flip side if you don't add more power it'd be a waste to by injectors.

evolutionm. net is a great website to get info/advice from tons of evo owners.

In ur profile it doesn't say where you live but if you live close enough to the northwest burbs of Chicago (just map google it and decided) i HIGHLY recommend a shop called Strictly Modified thats were me and everyone i know take our cars and they do amazing work. they work on all cars but they do dsms and evos the most all tho they can do just about anything to any car!

strictlymodified. net/

don't let the website fool you they just don't work on the site much lol.

also keep in mind that everything has a limit either on how must psi or how much horsepower it can handle so make sure you do the proper mods in the right order. for example you keep turning up the power at some point the stock clutch won't cut it and you'll start making the clutch slip and have to keep replacing it. i think you get the idea.

good luck any other questions feel free to ask me I'll help the best i can.

for the evo its very simple and basic.

TBE
Intake
MBC
BOV since the Evo 8's are plastic. Go with either the synaptic one or a evo IX BOV.
Fuel Pump
IC pipes
FMIC
CAMs
Great tune

And you will prob need a clutch after this since its a used car. My car puts down abotu 400whpwith all these mods and ALky/water injection for extra safety.....BTW I have 162k on my car. No internal work and no rebuild the trans.....
