You aren't reusing head studs are you? Most Honda engines have torque-to-yield head bolts. Meaning they actually stretch when they're torqued down, and once they stretch, they can't be reused...

What kind of engine do you have? Because like I said, most Honda's have stretch bolts, and you CAN NOT REUSE THEM!

He clearly stated that he had ARP head studs. I haven't seen a Honda engine yet with factory head studs. A cylinder wall guard could be limiting the amount of coolant flow that you have around your cylinder walls.

Having ARP bolts doesn't mean anything. They're still stretch bolts. Look:

ARP | Tech - Torque and Stretch

See the third column to the right? That spec shows how much the bolt stretches in ten thousandths of an inch when torqued to spec. Each time you remove and re-torque those bolts they get that much longer every time.

You were going on talking about Honda head studs when he clearly stated that he had ARP studs. Not once did I say that ARP studs or bolts didn't stretch.

And not once did I ask if he was reusing STOCK studs, but merely if he was using ANY studs more than once.

This quote looked like you were stating about Honda studs or bolts.
You have all of the new automotive books look it up. Mine are all over 10 years old from when I was in school. I have just about every Honda service manual for every car ever made in the states.

I first asked him if he was reusing head studs, in general...

And by that ^ I mean that most Honda's require torque to yield bolts. That statement can be easily misinterpreted.

Look up what?
