need some help here

Well I'm starting all my plans together for my build and I need some turbo help

I'm dropping a k20a type r motor into my car eventually.

I want to turbo it and I want it done right.

I want as much power as possible and not blow my motor or overwork my turbo

Whats the best system out there for k series and PSI can the motor itsself take. as in what would be a good PSI number to run.

you trying to turbo it stock? i seen a video of a frank k motor and it made 750 stock block before it blew. a couple people i know say to you use twin scroll with twin waste gates since the head flows so good that you see boost creep

no no lol it will be far far from stock I'm going to completely rebuild this motor from the ground up after I go to school and really learn what I'm doing. Then I'm doing all the research on this motor finding out what parts make the best combination. the only stock on this motor will probably be the block.

so 750 stock before it blew? I guess I'll build it up to around 600 650 more than enough to take out anything on the streets where I run

That's if you can hook up in a FWD that weighs less than 3000lbs with that much power. FWD = FTL

You don't need 600-650 whp to beat the things on the streets.

Number 1. You're not going to hook.
Number 2. You only really need like 450whp for a street car, and even that is pushing it. I'm not saying that it's pushing it in reference to the car itself, I'm saying for a good street powerband, you don't need over 450whp. You still probably won't be using the full power of the car at 450whp on the street.

Unless you're mad tyte street racing at every stop light. There aren't 10 second cars just driving on the street everywhere.

But again, this is only my opinion, do what you want.

dude i think 1 of the key things bout turbos is watchn ur pounds tht ur set on cuz wht u want is 2 balance between enough pounds of boost 2 blow by any thing but the minimum pounds tht ur not chancing blowing ur shit up idk thts wht i think if i had turbo in my teg i would b set at liiiike 6-8 pounds of boost but ive heard of ppl set at like 11-17 on hatch GSR's n srt 4's on the STREET! n tht jus seems crazy 2 me

You also have to realize bud this aint no gsr motor going into this car lol

well the k20a type R motor that I'm getting is stock with 220 hp

the things on my streets run and they run quick

I've got 3 super snakes running around a lotus esprit some dip with a lambo

couple punks with twin turbo supras and rx-7s

ok so if no hooking with that much power on FWD I'll kill it enough and bring it down to 450whp with a car that weighs roughly 2800 lbs. would bring my P:W ratio to 1:6.22 at 450whp give or take.

so what kind of turbo am I looking at to make these kind of numbers

i would go with a 35r and make around 600 hp... multi stage boost controller FTW.. i made 600 in a street hatch and had tons of fun "realing" them in

A lot of people have been using Holset HX35's on their cars with nothing but good results. These are relatively cheap, and almost mimic a GT30-GT35. So basically you're getting the same turbo that at one point would cost you $600 for about $200.

FYI - how much PSi you're running is irrelevant regarding the power you're making, depends on the turbo, but 10 PSi on a GT35 is completely different than running 10 Psi on say... a T88.

I know about going fast, trust me, there aren't too many cars on the street that can come anywhere near keeping up with my ITR.

And you can down talk B series motors all you want, I like it that way, so when people hear I'm running Ls/Vtec, they assume I'm slow.

as stated above, having a multi stage boost controller is bomb for the street, cause you dont have to use all your power for everyday driving, blitz make a solenoid based one(i think), but i treasure the HKS vpc. i have one that must be the original model(15 yrs old) that still works fine.

If you have the money and time, go with the J series. 100% stock running mid 12's, can't complain with that. Only thing is you have to cut a huge hole in your hood. lol

I've been wondering about a Comptech supercharged J series in my DA.

lol when I do this swap I'll have nothing but time, I have no problem cutting a hole in my hood lol thats what hood scoops are for right and at least I'll have it on there for the right reason not just for looks. I'm going to try and find a J37A2 but I'd care to know more about these motors what kind of heavy fab am I looking at to make this bad motor fit in my 94 teg

I'm pretty sure Hasport makes mounts for the J series into an EG... I'm not 100% on if they've made them for integra's yet.
