Unhappy Help Please, Ignition Issue Supreme!

My girlfriend has a 95 ex 2 door 1.6l vtec. I noticed that she had a loose spark plug last night when her car started missing randomly. When I was pulling out the plug wire that was plugged onto the spark plug it started arcing because it was running..

I got shocked a little nothing big. I just dropped the plug wire on the block and I went to shut it off, but when I got around the car to do that it had stalled....

I thought nothing of it and went up and got new wires for the hell of it for her. I marked on paper the exact locations of the wires before hand I will add, and bought her one new spark plug, just one because the others including the one I replaced are new any ways so,, I get all this on and no spark..

I tested for spark ofcourse, and no spark. I went up and bought a new distributor today and put it on it took like 5 minutes and still nothing.

I checked the power going into the distributor per a wiring diagram in a book for it and it is getting power to the distributor power wire going into it. There are no blown fuses any where,,.

What the hell did I do? I would be amazed if some one here figures this one out because I sure as hell can't and I have spent like 10 hrs on it. My car is a stick so we can't share my vehicle until she gets hers fixed,, I need to get her car running again asap or I'm screwed.

I greatttttly appreciate help on this.

If you have a friend with any obd1 ecu, u can plug it in and see if it runs... It doesnt matter what car it comes from.. any acura/honda ecu will run it.

Double check all the grounds... A bad ground at any 1 location can keep your ignition from firing....

Did she have a loose plug or plug wire? I assume you checked and tightened all the other plugs.

What kind of wires? Most auto parts stores I've dealt with have been sort of hit or miss on plug wires.

When you tested for spark, what ground did you use? I used the bolt and ground wire coming off the valve cover and got nothing, but it then actually showed spark when I used the battery negative as a ground.

I would have changed the cap and rotor on the old one first, but that is definitely a way to make sure its not the igniter. Where did you get the distributor from, sometime those are flaky too. Will the working distributor from your manual car work on her auto car? If so, maybe you could try that one.

Damn, with the stuff you are describing, this is where I would have checked. I take it you checked the fuses under the hood as well as under the dash. What about the actual connections at the distributor, are they good?

Has any work been done to the car recently?

I put that ecu on and no difference. I took the $180 distributor back to autozone and got her towed outa here to my mechanic which I use for motor swapping and trans swapping and alike big stuff I don't have a lift or the time for. I will post on here what it was because this is a good and rare thing whatever it is.

Ok well it ended up being that the new distributor that I had bought was bad. I called the manager at the store who is a friend of mine and told him to damage it out. My mechanic got a laugh out of it that's for sure. I spent two and a half days working on that damn thing.. If any one else has this issue hopefully they stumble across this thread. Thanks for the help guys.
