Need some help choosing tires

So I need to get snow tires for my Accord this year and went to tirerack.com, goodyear.com, and discounttire.com

I've bought from discounttire.com before about 3 years back and loved them. Never had any problems but that was when I rocked my GTi lol.

So I don't know what I should go with if anyone has any good or bad experiences with any of the above names. Goodyear is local so I can always hop on over to them in person. So... what should I go with? Last year on my 98' Corolla I had the Winterforce's and they were okay but they wore down quickly. We have really harsh winter's where I live too. So keep that in mind! =) Thanks!!

You might give Mx6girl93 "Mary" a PM. I believe she posted up once that she worked at a tire supplier.

PS. I feel bad for those of you who need to purchase snow tires. I'm able to run Ultra High Performance Summer tires year round.

Thanks. I'll check with her then.

And yeah... we get used to the snow, ice, sleet, hail, freezing rain, and anything else. It changes so frequently we can never go by the weathermen/women =)

If there is ice on the roads, they actually close the roads here.

Schools close and no work for the day. Just because no one is prepared for those sort of conditions here. The highway department doesn't have the de-icing agents, and since it only happens maybe one day every 5 years or so its not worth the money to prepare.

Yeah here in NY... you get used to it. They don't close jack unless it is blowing and we have seriously about 6 feet of snow + and there are ice and we have plenty of slat trucks and plows.. they usually start if its bad around 4am til whenever.. I plan on moving to Northern VA within 2 years after I get my Bachelor's degree so they do the same thing they have no salt trucks let alone plows and they use sand from what I hear... and they get a few inches of snow they call state of emergency.. crazy lol.

I would go to tire rack and get the cheapest snow tires posssible. I did that that and was very happy. They were some "unbranded" firestones.

Some snow tires will perform better than others, but they all perform very well in my experience. Every snow tire is leagues ahead in snow performance versus a regular tire, so just get what's cheap. You'll have to make the decision with studs, which cost a little extra but make your tires work well on ice.

They all wear fast as well because they use soft tread that gives and grabs the snow. Change them as soon as the seasons over.

Yeah we can only have the studded ones at certain times of the year and at times we have snow in May and in April or May in our area you have to have them off and in November sometime you can have them on. There are specific dates that you can have them studded and when they have to be off the road for road issues and what not locally. I will get snow tires just didn't know if someone preferred one over the other.. this is my 3rd time getting snow tires and once I had them never could picture myself without them. Especially now that I have a toddler. LOL

Blizzak WS60 - Bridgestone Blizzak WS60

They basically wrote the book on snow tires with the WS50's. I plan to buy the WS60s's for my car this winter

I live in WY, and I had the Hankook Winter Pikes on my last car and loved them. They look sporty and perform awsome. A friend of mine in SD also runs these, and has been very happy with them too.

I looked at those too. I ended up getting everything from tirerack.com. I went with the Blizzak's WS60s and got them mounted and balanced on some steelies too so they will be all set and ready to go when I get them sometime mid next week or so. Driving down to VA for Thanksgiving so I need to get some snows through NY and PA since we already have gotten some sleet and hail hah

Thanks for the all help everyone and suggestions! Most appreciated. We'll see how I like the Blizzaks. I hated the Wintergrasp ones I had on my 98' Corolla last year.. hoping I like these.
