if i'm doing a custom headlight setup can i get away with just using the front bumper??
the size of the openings in the bumper and hood wont matter to me, since they will need to be changed anyway. also, since the fenders are the same, correct? can i switch out fenders at a later date if i want to have side markers? Last edited by mrchaos; 07-29-2004 at 11:44 AM. |

the only difference with the fenders is the cut-outs for the sidemarkers, there is no other size/shape difference. even if you do a custom headlight setup, you will still have issues if you only use the bumper and not the hood because the US hood is meant for smaller headlights and the bumper for larger ones, you will have a big gap where the hood meets the bumper.

the center part of the SiR hood is the same as USDM, just that it rasies UP not DOWN - making room for a B16. the other thing with an SiR hood is the hood latch, some people run into some latching issues, like me.. had to slide the latch BACK on the hood to match up.
the biggest difference is in the openings for the size of the headlights, same with the bumper cover. as far as rad support, you can use your USDM one if you so choose, it doesnt matter UNLESS you got a WHOLE front crossmember, then you would want the JDM one, to make the JDM hood latch correctly. yeah, as long as you dont mind custimizing your hood to accomodate your new headlights
what kind of headlights are you trying to put in? from a different car, or actual on-off custom headlights? Paul

if you are putting a b16 in there i'm 99% sure you cannot use your stock US hood anyway. i've heard of people fitting ZCs with a stock US hood, but a b16 - i would be very surprised if it fits.

many people I know have cut the supports under the hood for clearence. I have a JDM front end so I don't have to worry about all that.
