Nice Write Up

NICE WRITE UP. I USED A 84-87 CRX MOMO HUB FOR MY NRG ON MY 1990 CRX SI. THE 84-87 MOMO HUB IS SHORTER THEN THE 88-91 CRX MOMO HUB. SO YOU CAN USE THE CLICKER AND YOU CAN TIGHTEN THE NUT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE MOMO STEERING WHEEL WON'T BE ALL UP IN YOUR CHEST.

Great write-up Marlon.

I liked the idea of having the wheel closer to me. I have fairly long legs (I'm 5' 10"), and i sit pretty far back for comfortable clutch position, and the wheel sits pretty far away.

When I get back from FL, I'll be installing mine. I got the NRG wheel and Quick Release today, and the MOMO hub should be here tommorow. I'll be sure to snap pics during my install and show differences.

Good stuff Marlon!

Paul

Yeah just give it a good pull the first time, and it should come off. It took me a little bit when I took the wheel off my Old CRX but it should come right off, like I said just give it a really good tug!.

Thanks Paul! I look forward to seeing your write up with the Momo Hub, let me know when you get it done, and then what we will do is measure from the base with a measuring tape and see what the difference is in size!

Hey Red1990CRXSi can you measure yours from the base to the top of the Quick Release let's see what measurement you get. I wont be available tomorrow but I will post mine up on Friday morning!

And you guys are welcome for the write up, it was my pleasure and I'm glad I was able to help you guys out! I just really wanted to take the chance with the NRG short hub because I like the way it all looks! So when you guys get yours done post some pictures as well!

the wheel i got on from weaksause is an NRG wheel, and it is smaller than a stock CRX wheel. Marlon's probably is too. Most wheels are 320mm, and are maybe about a .5-1" shorter total (so like .25" all over).

The quick release has a sleeve and a push button (for safety). You slide the sleeve up and push the button down so the sleeve can fully release, and the wheel pops right off. It also has a one way setup in how it secures, so the wheel's always pointing straight wit the wheels.

Ok.. I just couldn't wait until after i got back, so i put it in already

So here's my install pics. Same procedure Marlon posted, but just another batch of pics.

OEM wheel with H off

Close up of the nut - 19mm BTW

Momo hub installed.

NRG quick release fixed part on.

Other end of the quick release installed

Wheel on and misc pics of the angles

-------
HOW IT FITS

Ok.. so Marlon used a short hub, and I used momo hub, so how does it fit and feel? Marlon mentioned the short hub/quick release setup moved the wheel 1/4-1/2" away from the driver. I wanted the wheel closer to me, cause I have pretty long legs, and i felt like i had to reach for the wheel. I measured the stock wheel from black plastic around the stalks to the front of the wheel (above the H) and was 4.25" With the the momo hub and quick release, to the new wheel, depth is 6" even. So a 1.75" gain TO the driver. I quickly got used to the position of the wheel, and I now I can sit back in the my seat and use the upper support of the seats.

So there you go everyone. NRG quick release and short hub, and NRG release with full size momo hub.

Paul

sounds like momo/NRG combo wins in my book! I feel like I am reaching for the wheel in every car I drive, guess I found a solution

nice write up. Now the mystery if the short hub will work on the EF is gone. I think I'll just get a custom one made. I need it shorter 'cause I sit close to the pedals.

Well Quick Update, I finally got my Mugen Horn Button. So I am no longer rollling without a horn button check it out !!! And I have to mention that I am loving my Nardi wheel. I think I am going to buy the all black one next! I saw the one with the wodden trim and I must admit I am leaning towards buying that one as well!
