ef9 jdm seat Please Need Q's Answered!!

hey what's up
in the oncoming week i'm going to be buying the jdm ef9 front seats for my hatch. I was just wondering for those people who have them currently in their 90/91 hatches. How did u guys make them fit since the pans only direct bolt on to the 88/89 hatches. Pan swaps or customized rails?
If you did the pan swap i have questions.
Does everything bolt on to the 90/91 pan?
I'm asking because i had these before and i did a pan swap but i had trouble connecting the recliner and it was all messed up, but i've seen people mention their swap was perfect. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Danny

Do the pan swap. It should work. Make sure they are EF9 seats. If they are EF8 then you will have to modify your pan. I just swaped EF8(JDM) seats to my hatch. Its possible with some cutting, grinding and welding of the pan. The pivot points are much narrower on the hatch(usdm) seat. Good luck.

yeah they are the ef9 jdm seats.
i'm more than likely going to do the pan swap
but like b4 i had trouble finding a way to mount the recliner somewhere in the pan because it doesnt have the spot like the jdm pan for the recliner right?
Thanks

The recliner should be already on the back portion of the seat. Don't take it off. The whole back should slide right into the seat pan.

the recliner as in the ones that are on the side of the seat.
the recliner lever(?) is bolted on to the pan so would i have to customize the pan to make thge lever hold up?

The recliner and lever are attached on the "back" portion of the seat. The "back" then bolts to the pan. On one side(back) of the pan there are two holes where the back with the recliner goes on. The other side has a pivot point with one bolt. Do you have a pic of the seats?

lol i'm the last post of that thread =P with the same question haha
i'm talking bout this part circled in red.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...r/recliner.jpg
for example on the 90/91 pan seat that part doesn't have a place to bolt on because i had done a pan swap a while back with the jdm seats and it didn't have the whole. is it because it was std pan? i'm going to be doing it to a si pan will it be different? maybe the si had the extra stuff to do a conversion? i want to know beforehand because i'm buying jdm seats on wednesday so i want to be prepare for it and know in advance.
Don't have pics sorry =(
thanks
danny

saw the seats in the pic. They are 88-89 right? My swap involved Jdm seats on a 90 STD hatch pan. I won't really be able to tell without the seats you want to get. Marlon and I always say "make that shit fit!". Get them and try it and if doesn't work, which I think it can, sell them. Btw, is your hatch a 88-89?

no my hatch is a 91
and the jdm seats bolt in directly to a 89
so if i want to do the swap i'm swaping them into my 91 hatchback.
might pick up the seats this weekend
i'll post pics then.
hope you understand more of what i'm trying to say.
thanks
danny

Alright so today i swaped my passenger seat ef9 seat with my ef si seat and i came to a problem.
The recliner for the jdm seat when swaped to the si seat doesn't have a place to be bolted on. However i have seen some people done this before on pics but never have known how they have done it. SO i would like to know so i have the knowledge before hand so when i do my driver tomorrow it'll be easier.
How can it be done?
Here are some pics of what i'm talking about.

My jdm seat with my si pan swap without the recliner.

The recliner

The jdm pan with the hole to bolt the recliner on

and the si seat doesn't have hole to bolt on the recliner

Hope you guys can understand what i'mt rying to say.
Thanks for the help
Danny

Lets see if Iam getting it. You can drill a hole in the 91(pan) and attach the recliner with a nut and bolt.

you can't do that because compared to the jdm seat pan the 91 pan rails are like on the side which will get in the way will the recliner being placed there.
Only way is by drilling a hole on the opposite side and putting the recliner there but the recliner lever will be inside towards the center console (ebrake + shifter) therefore hitting it and sliding against it which won't make it work.

Oh!!! I see now. Hmmm, you can always try to put the JDM fabric on your Si frames. No?
