Power steering Q?.

My steering rack is been leaking really bad, And ive always wanted to remove the power steering itself but how hard is it to do?. I heard you just plug the lines..Of course its not that easy and there is more to do... Idk im probably wrong but i know someone knows. So anythin will help!.

Oh and i was wonderin if i took out my motor and cleaned the engine bay with a pressure washer would that be cool or not a good idea.. Cuz I would cover up everything of course. I really wanna do that if i can because its soooooo fucking dirty!..

And ill get picks up soon but there is a sensor it looks like on the bottom of the trans, and it looks like its leaking.. So is there a seal in it?. Or what?. Cuz its never leaked like this..
But ill get them up very shortly!
Thank you guys

You do not just plug the lines, that would be bad. Nor do you just remove your power steering belt. Here is a write up from 91CivicSiR:
Converting Power steering to manual for a little over 20 bucks

Its not necessary to pull out your motor, though that is the best way to clean everything. Gunk Heavy Duty Engine cleaner Foam and Gel Sprays work the best for heavy built on engine grease. Simple Green works surprisingly well also. You will need to scrub a little more with the simple green. I like to use the Foaming cleanser first because the foam pushes off the grease nicely. Then I use the Gel because it stays in place and doesn't drip off the engine. So it soaks into the grease to loosen it up. Then pressure wash the engine off. On painted surfaces, the Simple Green works great because it doesn't take off your paint like the others can. But sometimes a simple spray down afterwards is not enough, you have to scrub all the areas with a brush or a rag to clean it up well.

You need to make sure to protect your engine from water. Make sure your engine is cold, you don't want to crack anything from rapid contraction of hot metal parts from cold water. Second you want to make sure to cover your under hood fuse box. Third, if you have any sort of after market air intake tube with an exposed air filter, you want to cover that, and not get it wet. Fourth is you want to cover your distributor very well with something that will prevent water from getting into it. If it gets water in it, your car will not start until it drys out.

If it is a manual transmission, it may be your back up light switch. It has a metal crush washer just like your engine oil drain plug. You can replace that, but your manual transmission fluid will come out when you do this. If its an automatic tranny, then I have no idea.

Sick man i know it wasnt the right way, I just hada get someone to tell me whats up!.

Ya i was going to do that but im really thinking about taking the motor out to do all the cleaning, and clean the motor as well when its out.. More space to work with.. Ive takin this motor out sooooooo many times its like clock work for me.. So i dont mind.

But ill make sure to cover the distributor cuz I think the last person that had the motor got the old one wet.
And everything else will be taken care of.
