If you do them all, intake, exhaust, header, youll probably see a pretty nice increase... Maybe 15 or so HP...

Just dont believe the hype when they tell you 10-15 HP here for such and such, it dosnt really work like that... To see any real world gains from either (header, exhaust, intake), you pretty much have to do all of them... Since they are all pretty much dependant on each other to work more efficiently...

does that decrease fuel efficiency though?

Yea a little... Anytime u add more air (which is what an intake does, well more air, more efficiently, and colder air) the ECU has to add more fuel into the mixture... So it does use up a little bit more gas... But its well worth it...

actually, I think that's false.....vtec kicks in at 5400 on D16's, give or take a few hundred RPM's. He has a D16y8. and redline on D16's is 7200-7400

anywhere honestly. I'm rockin' INJEN but it's expense compared to others. Some just get a cheap eBay one and put on a K&N filter. Shop the usuals though: modacar.com, jdmland.com, overboost.com

Not many people (specially on this forum) will ever suggest to go with something generic, or "off brand", with the exception of an intake... Honestly, its just a metal tube... AEM, Injen, ebay special, ect... All of them are basically the same design... So Id go on eBay and get a cheapy cold air for around $40, and buy a K&N filter... You honestly dont need to pay for AEM...

The difference between a ram air is, with ram air, it possitions the filter so that it sits higher up in the engine bay, so its not as effectitive as a cold air since its sucking in hotter air... (for an engine colder air is always better and means more HP)

A cold air intake poositions the filter so that it sits down just in front of the pass side wheel, and it sucks in colder air... Now there is a downside to this, if you drive in a big puddle and suck water up, it can hydrolock your engine! But AEM does make something called a by pass valve that will counteract this... Its $40 and will fit on any intake (they come in varying sizes in diameter)...

Right now im running an eBay cold air intake as a ram air (theres a down pipe that I took off) only because I live in Louisiana (rains alot) and I dont have a by pass valve... I dont have a K&N filter yet tho, just never got around to getting one... But the performance is good, and the sound it made when I first installed it was amazing! I didnt have VTEC back then, but it used to howl when I got on it... I loved it! And now that I do have a VTEC engine and a new exhaust, the sound is sick!

you think i could get away with a ram intake then? i already have an exhaust...is there any danger of over-heating if a ram intake sucks in warmer air as opposed to cooler air?

Air intake kicks ass in the low end, cold air kicks ass in the upper end. You are looking at a 1/2 horsepower difference either way. Go with a shortie. It won't overheat anything
