Dead car...

just put in a new alternator and battery. a day later of putting it in, car dies. checked all the cables and they're all good. got a jump and let the battery charge and it still died. its almost like the alternator isn't charging the battery. when putting them in, i put a voltmeter on the battery when i had the car running and it looked it was charging then. the speedometer stopped working after i put those two items in. you think that has something to do with it? my tach still works. any idea?

sound to me like a bad alternater or a short in the wiring.

dang this sucks...when i first put it in, my friend stripped the bottom bolt on the alternator. now i can't get it off.

aww...i didn't know they had tools for that. what is it? maybe i could get one.

jump the car to start it and put a voltmeter on your battery. it should read between 13-14.X volts. If it is lower your alternator is not charging. I would check the alternator wiring as well and make sure the alternator connector has a good solid connection.

i got a new one, then i did that and it said like 11.8 constant. with a brand new alternator. so i'm guessing it would be the wiring. i haven't checked that but thats probably it.
