$2 Grand build
My friend has a 2000 ex, and he has $2,000 to build. Should he build a D16y8 or do a motor swap?. If he should build his d16 what could get done with 2 grand.

you could do many things with 2 grand

p28 with conversion harness

cam, retainers, cam gear

high compression head gasket

skunk 2 intake manifold or blox

upgrade injectors and 255 lph fuel pump


throw some p29 pistons from a zc to bump the compression

mill the head

and after all that get a tune from a good shop street tune is about $250

thats all resonable for less then 2 grand

or boost a z6 you can get a used greddy kit or a jackson racing supercharger for a grand get it tuned. prob be the best bang for your buck.. or his i guess. you could also build the motor na like ek9coupe said. your not gonna get a whole lot out of a sohc though. or do a ls/b20 swap for less then 2k. and have some money for bolt ons

since you got the D16Y8 V-tec engine why dont you just boost it saves u a lot of money but gives u a lot of power....
