Cool H-22 into an EK.

How hard would it be to swap an H-22 into a EK hatchback on your own? What would be the basics I need to know about doing it myself, dealing with the wires and such?

Also, with buying the H-22, would I have to buy the ECU separately?

Do you have basic mechanical skills? Best bet is to go with an H2B kit so that you dont have to cut your floor and run shifter cables.

I thought about this or a F20B for a while, hopefully you'll actually get it done this would be so dope

Go K24, there are bolt on kits now for K swaps in terms of the shifter box and the radiator.

Thats my boy

If you want an H/F series motor in your EK get the QSD H2B conversion.

You can run B series mounts, B series transmission and any H/F motor (except F20c of course) you can also run a P28/P06 with Hondata or eCtune etc...dont buy AEM for a simple street setup...waste of money.

You will need help with wiring most likely-- not rocket science but its a PITA

I would knock out a few birds with this one stone.....take your motor out, clean and shave the bay, get it sprayed in a color that shows oil leaks (no black) and tuck you brake lines, fuel lines, wiring.

On my next swap I am calling Chase from Chase bays after I take the motor out and have the body shop fill/shave/respray the bay...give him a nice clean area to do his thing

Crazy tucks and wiring...saves weight, looks awesome and easy to drop the motor in/out with the updated harness (mil spec)

A JDM H2B H22 setup will have you running 12's with basic bolt-ons and traction....totally worth it instead of using the garbage H trans and special mounts, cutting your car etc...garbage

Okay. Back to this whole h22 into an EK ordeal...I've been having people give me their opinions and they've been telling me putting a k20 instead of an h22 would be better and possibly give me more power. I'm still all for my decision on the h22, but just wanna know you guys' feedback on that....

k20 is a newer fresher motor. Is really potent, and has great potential especially in a light chasis. I would go with the k20a2 if your budget allows.then again a h22 isn't going to be cheap either. What's ur budget?

I don't really have a budget for the swap. I'm just debating on the k20 or the h22.

lol @ everyone tellin the op to take the car to a mechanic. doing a motor swap is just about as hard as doing a tune up.

with as many swaps that are out there im sure you could find a step by step how to and just put a laptop in your garage connect to a wireless connection and there you go. i can promise you that doing your own swap is invaluable and you will learn more than you thought you could about your car.

While I may partially agree I still think this kid should have a knowledgeable friend help and oversee what he is doing.

Plus tools, garage, time, all components on hand...

What a pro can do in matter of a few hours a rookie may take a week or two....hell I remember garbage shops taking a month or two to finish swaps back in the day...ridiculous...they charged people 1000-1500 for a B series swap in LABOR

So these days you can pay a decent guy 300-500 for swap labor instead of taking a week on your own to figure it out....for a daily driven car....a week just isnt practical and getting something wrong with the wiring and check engine lights...even more time consuming.

I am all for DIY but with some common sense
