If you're looking for a good reliable car, with decent gas mileage and a decent amount of fun, a Honda is a good place to start, you can look at some Toyotas too, but they're just not as much fun in your price range.. For 8k you can probably pick up an AP1 (First Gen S2000), but you're probably going to rack up a crazy amount of tickets seeing as cops are dickheads to young people in nice cars. After that you can get a nice EK (98-00 Civic) Coupes are nice and are about 2k cheaper than your budget which leaves room for suspension and wheels if you go Rota. Eg's (92-95 Civic) are also good, you can pick them up for 2k completely stock and build them up, but with buying an older car normally come quite a few problems. And then you can go for the newer civics, and maybe an RSX? I don't know what they go for nowadays. My recommendation is get an EK because you'll still have a decent amount of cash leftover, and you'll be getting a fairly new car. Just my 2 cents.

I loved my EP3, but I REALLY LOVED my EK9 hatch, I had back in the day. For the true Honda enthusiast, no chassis is better(in my opinion). You have countless engine options, light weight, and aftermarket heaven. If you're like me, i'd keep it JDM all the way.

The Ep3 in the US = Mini-Minivan

Its just a shadow of the CTR in other parts of the world and even if you swapped over everything it still wouldnt hold a candle to a built EG/EK shell

I laughed out loud when the guy said get something with torque

With my torque-less wonder EK I smashed on WRXs all day, S13's with SR20's...and that was with a simple C5 setup that only made 160whp...hell I almost pulled an 03 350z on my snow tires from a stop...I was running 13.60s with that thing with stock cams, crappy dc header on an Si ecu...

With swaps today making 215-230whp on bolt-ons running low 12's high 11's...no torque can kiss my ass...it takes a serious car to be that quick ...add some boost and 120+mph traps....no torque lol

Fast is fast is fast....

When it comes to small bore imports who cant grab a 550 cubic inch big block Hondas are probably the cheapest cars to race with on a consistent basis.
