Type S cams in 96 H22A

I have a '00 civic hatch with a '95 JDM H22A and I am planning to upgrade to Type S cams. Would I run into any problems if I installed Type S cams? I am getting a Brian Crower valvespring/retainer kit (necessary info). I was wondering if I would run into any problems because I've heard of Type S cams eating away at the rockers of USDM H22s.

if you dont mind me asking? how much are you getting the type s cams for? even in the jdm h22a, you will still have problems with the rockers. since you are doing the bc springs an retainers, save some extra change and do a stage two set of cams, either crower, or skunk2 or do the skunk 2 pro series stage 1's.. make use of the upgraded valvetrain and the compression in the h22a. im running sk2 pro 1's with a rocket valvetrain and i make 204 and 159 all day long before the 100 shot. type s cams are just a waste IMO

the jun cams are good, but unless you have the headwork and compression you wont see the full benefits... best question really is what kinda budget do you have, and what kind of tuning are you gonna be doing afterwards?

Thanks for the replies. I can get Type S cams for $120 and I have BC valvesprings/retainers for $300. So if I get Skunk 2 stage 1's and combine it with the valvesprings/retainers, would I run into any problems? Can someone explain to me what I need to do to use some either cams please?

s2s1 cams would be fine.. any stage two cam you run, you run into the issue of if you have enough compression to make use of the full potential of the cam as well as if you have the right tune on the car. there are a few things to consider when doing cams... if you plan on staying na, then do you plan on upping compression? if you up compression, then the cams you pick, need to go hand in hand with it..if you are going F/I then stage 2 cams arent gonna work well. lots of varibles to go through and decide what direction you are going with the car before picking internals.

id recommend a mild turbo cam if so instead of a stage 2...

eh probably it would be noticeable... "most" not all stage two cams are designed to give minimal gains low in the powerband and get most of them very high in rpm range. with a turbo, you want something that will help you out low end and keep that power all the way to redline.. a forced induction cam would be the way to go..

Thanks a lot for the info pitchblackeg! I ordered skunk 2 stage 1 cams to match the BC valvetrain. I raced a k20 eg and lost by a car at 120..so hopefully with the cams and a tune I should beat him.

Might be a dumb question...but does it matter that I am going to use BC valvesprings/retainers to go with the skunk 2 stage 1 cams? Or is it still going to perform?
