Is it ok if my car is not in TDC.........and do i need to run any vtec oil line.................do i need to do any wiring if i use 96-98 hardness...

If your car isn't in TDC it's probalby not in correct time. Vtec online, no. The wiring is already explained in this write up.

so has anyone been able to get there minime to 8k and beyond??

btw--nice vid your mini is freakn sweet-it sounded like a b series.

Sounds like a B series? I doubt that. lol Maybe when I add a cam this year.


I see no problem w/ getting a mini me to rev to 8k with the right valve train.

I had to fab my y7 intake to fit on the y8 intake manifold. It was an ebay special so I just cut it.

I'm running AEM now.

Umm, you can use the y7 intake manifold, but why do you want to? That setup puts the throttle body right on top, and it's ass. Get the y8 intake manifold.

96-98 civic is obd2a
99-00 civic is obd2b

p2p ecu is not from an si. It's from an EX. Make sure you get the correct OBD2 model. You would need a p2p from a 96-98 civic.

first off.... kudos..... im proud of you by replying to all these peoples questions for over a year.


i hate reading these how-to's cause i get anxious and want to do it....... so i finaly am...... im gunning down 3 different z6 heads on ebay at the moment.... i know this wright up wasnt specific for an eg so if theres a 5th gen write up of this point me there

but main questions
----- do i need to hook up vtec or can i do that later?
---- can i use all my stock parts (im, tb, fi)
--- can i re-use timing belt (only has 20k on it)
-- i have no concept of cx ecu's and what i need to do
- ive been told i need to take out 1 oil valve to get vtec to work
- will you sleep with me?

-I didn't hook up vtec for about 2 weeks of running the car.
-Not sure if you can use all stock parts on the EG. I don't want to give a "guess".
-Yes, I have heard of people re-using the timing belt.
-Well your using an EG, so you can use the p28. Should plug and play just fine.
-Yes, you will need to remove an oil valve in the block.
-Negative

so...... if i choose not to run vtec...... or right away..... i can keep my old ecu...... and basicly just bolt the head on>?

heh..... damn my cold feet..... im definatly gonna do something...... im caught between this or a COPMLETE b16 swap for $1500....... i know. big price curve........damn my indecisive ness!!
