Oh hell man, I'd love to do more. But, this is the only swap my buddy and I have had the chance of doing.

He will hopefully get an EG next year, and hopefully we can get a B series in there.

Thanks on the props. I try to contribute as much as I can to JDMU.

wow dude that is awesome! very well done.

i know a lot of people use the y7 tb and iacv on the y8 IM to save the time of wiring up the new iacv. and then simply plug up the y8 iacv holes

any thoughts on this

Thanks!!!

Sure. It looks ALOT cleaner to use the y8 TB and IACV. It's not that much of a pain, and is alot more apealing to look at.

When the IACV is on the y7 TB, it's not to noticable because of it's location on the y7 IM. When it's cocked to the side on the y8 IM, it looks retarded.

Another thing of doing this. Just remember. y7 and y8 TB gaskets are differnt!!!!

If you use a y8 gasket on a y7 TB, it will give an irratic idle.

very nice writeup. It looks like things could get a little hairy when it comes to the wiring, did you have any troubles at all?

Umm, there were some problems. But I think there always is on a swap right? lol

I personally never de-pinned an ecu before. So, my buddy and I were working w/ it fo ra while. Finally he figured it out, and I don't recall. So I couldn't put it in the write up.

The other problem was, I had the wires mixed up on the oil switch. There was no real way to tell what was neg. So I just played w/ them until vtec kicked in.

It sounds kinda gay, but...I think I may wire up a "vtec" light this year. On SOHC it's not as easy to hear/feel it compared to the bigger brother.

I think the car runs well personally. No dyno figs, no dynos or tracks around.

Complete y8 Swap

Hi, Nice write up btw. I just did a complete Y7 to Y8 Swap. (motor, ECU, Tranny, Wire Harness.) Everything went pretty smoothly except I broke the knock sensor. (I replaced it but $100 down the tiolet). Now I have a check engine light on. The trouble code I'm getting is P0453 (Evaporative Emission System Pressure Sensor High Input.) I thought it might be because the charcoal canister/purge system were different between the Vtec and Non-Vtec so I upgarded that as well but it won't go away. Any suggestions?
Tommy
