Well its not the same to me anymore. I think its because I'm older and been around it for a while now. It just seems like there is more bullshit to deal with than just the fun of it. I still absolutely love my car and working on it but as far as the scene goes and going to hangouts and shows, it just doesnt do it for me anymore.

I kinda do feel like I've seen everything alredy. In 99' I remember reading my brother's Turbo mag that featured the Top Fuel EK9. I was in awe as I turned the pages thinking to myself this is what I want my car to look like. I was in 5th grade then.
Now it's like seen that, seen that, seen that, seen that, seen that. It's hard to get excited sometimes. You just have to think indiffrent to come up with new ideas. Having something you designed like ie orange rims. You can say it's yours and only yours. Our doing things like Drag,Drifting,AutoX,Road Racing, Time Attack,Show can help you feel more interested. Just my thoughts.

I am still soooooo in to it. Ever since 1997, I have been reading and re-re-reading all the import mags waiting for the newest issue to come out. It's still exciting to see different people's cars, even if they have the exact same mods as 20 other people at the same meet. It's even fun replacing turn signal bulbs still.

Ok, screw you all. I'll tell ya anyway
![]() No, the "scene" is not dead and never will be. New people are born into this everyday and always will be. However, it does die for some people. Some can go on doing it for a long time, others not. For me, I just felt as though the parts for these cars costed too much money and were not at all worth the cost. Did I enjoy myself when I was heavily into it? Sure. Did I spend a TON of money I could have used more wisely? Sure did. I just feel that as people get older, their tastes change. I know this has happened for me. For instance... when I was younger I was always into sport bikes. I owned a sport bike at 15. Now that I am older, I don't wanna be hunched over. I'd rather buy a Harley, lean back, kick my feet up and roll. The same has happened to me with cars. I bought my Corvette because I feel I got the most for my money out of the deal. Right off the bat the car will perform better than any car I have ever owned and it cost $10,000 less than I spent on my EK. Now.... in all honesty. How many 30+ people do you see at the track driving Hondas? How about 40+? See where I'm going? Sure there's a few but, the fact of the matter is that most of the people driving and modifying these cars are well under the age of 25. Peoples tastes change as they get older. Priorities change. Everything changes. I'm sure quite a few people will reply with "JDM fo life y0!!" or whatever but, the fact is... NO... it won't be for life. I assure you that. Cars? Yes. Doing what you are doing right now? I highly doubt it. The scene is what you guys make it. For me, I was never into a "scene". I was into cars period. I was into making and transforming my car into what I like, enjoyed and wanted. I could care less what was "In" at the time. I have never been to one single car show in my life with my car. Last year's HIN in Miami was THE FIRST show I had ever been to. I rolled to that in my pickup truck ![]() My advice is just enjoy what you're doing and forget about the "scene". Scenery WILL change. Bravo Miguel.
Thats like I said older. I guess its cause I'm getting older I'm not feeling it anymore. Now I will still continue to modify cars I own in one way or another but it is true. you want something better with your money as you get older and you get a little smarter with what you buy.

i think JDM is dying out. and i'm damn glad. although i'm curious as to what the next FAD will be. the truer aspect of JDM will stay around, i'd imagine, just like street drags have.

Maybe if the demand dies down a bit companies will come to realize that a fucking 15" metal wheel is not worth $500 fucking dollars. Nor are floormats worth $3-400.

There are only two things in life that are constant: Time and Change
I enjoy going to the shows because of the people. And I love the cars as well, but it's the people that keep me interested because you meet so many great and interesting people because of the cars. If the people in the "scene" were all assholes, I'd probably be doing something else.
