STi - who won the world rally championship last season? subaru in an STi!!! mitsu pulled their car, because even they knew it sucked. now the evo 5 and 6, were the best of the evo's. got to give kudo's to the impreza 22b best of all.

I have the same question in mind myself but here in europe our Sti still has the 2.0l and the 265 and the new Evo VIII also has 265... i think ill be going with the sti because of drivability(im acutally one of the few who get full use of the car since i live in the woods :evi: )

im wating for my prospect of the evo 8 and maybe test drive the sti

i personally would go with the evo... not a big fan of subarus but, from what i heard from a friend that does autocross for a living, the evo performs great and even with the less hp compared to the sti, it still performs just as good if not better then the sti. plus you dont have to try to look over the big ass hood scoop...
also just from what i've read it seems they both perform about the same... so you could take the money you save from buying the evo compared to the sti and put it into the motor and be running even faster... thats just my opinion and i hope that all makes sense

yes and no

Evo do perform better on track that's true but I drive my car on the street. With all the money you can save which now is about a grand or maybe 1500 dollars you save up for the clutch you would have to replace for the Evo. As much are there build quality has gotten better they still aren't close to Subaru's build quality. I love the Evo - I think it's a great track car and great handling car but I love my STI more. More torque - stonger transmission, stronger engine, less boost ( more room at add), feels more solid and damn that DCCD ROCKS!!!. if I could afford both I would but I need a reliable more stable car for daily driven

7 months old STI and 19k miles already

The STi is the Alpha male of the two cars. More power, better tranny, more trick stuff (dccd, etc.). And when I tell everyone about my car they alwasy say that it is better than the Evo. Although, If we got the Evo VII, just like the japan and european ones, I would have definately gone for that one, it is just so sick looking.
BTW, any update on those ringer Evos Mitsu sent to the mags, these could be the reason why they compared so closely to the STi in the mags. And the Evo only won most of those comparos because of the sticker price.

I vote STI based on 1/4 mile alone....have seen as low as a 12.8 stock! But i don't know why anyone would say they aren't a fan of one of these beasts...they are both excellent despite problems they may have or what not...Subarus sound really good....so deep....and the EVO is better handling stock i believe.

i like the sti because off that ajustable center diff. but the evo RS is pretty cool because of the no sunroof(lighter) and no wing...
