i personally don't like the new look of the new STi's either....thats y i have a 2004 STi!!! it's kind of hard for me not to chose the STi seeing is how i own one! lol but i have to tell you about a year ago i was ALL about the evo 8!

so a year ago i would of said Evo 8...now it's all about the 04-05 STi's!

i think we can all agree that we all hate the new A-line STi's! AMEN!

Here in Uk we get the Evo FQ400... 400Bhp Evo vs 300Bhp Scoob..

Not really fair to try and say which is better cos its all down to driver at the end of the day specially comparing 2 280Bhp-ish versions

STi, don't have any experience with either though so I'm just guessing. The STi looks and is said to be more friendly when it comes to daily drivers. Besides, Evo owners are building up a really really bad rep for thinking that their the fastest shit on the street. Not pointing this to anyone on these boards, just in the area I live in.

Who in this forum actually owns a Either of the cars? I own a 03 Evo the most problematic of the years and the least power. I have friends who swear by subarus but they just can't hang in the corners, track, or just on the road. Yes the STI comes with 30 more HP but if that's so then how come it can't out run a Evo? They are both cars in there own right and yes it's a preference. As far as DSM's breaking and Evo's doing the same it depends on how the car is beat on. I have seen someone destroy a STI motor and tranny in 7k. My car has 72k on it and I have no issues at all. I have about 290whp and 295 wtrq. When I launch my car it is launched at 6k and 15psi no questions asked, If I launch it wrong it's time for a new diff. It's all about the driver and the matience that is done. As for The subarus I have seen them break without abuse all the time. I owned a DSM before my evo and it had 132k on it and I never had a issue. I must just be lucky. Give me my 2.0 turbo anyday over a sti.

hehe

We dont get Lancers here just evos well ya get them as of like 2005 but its all been evos until then.

id deff go for the evo the 4G63 engine is a really nice peice of kit. here you can pic up an older Scoob for a few grand but the Evos still hold a high price tag and as a result you dont get dumbass wasters driving them. its a shame. I always used to be torn between them but when you see a STi Wrecklessly tearing through a town at 100+Mph its like.. so childish.

Prefer the Evos more aggressive drive but I can only compare to a 2.0 Turbo WRX not the "STi" version.

Never had to live with either on a daily basis tho so i dunno about day by day

id take the sti. I had a '98 2.5rs that used to be my dads for my first car and that was probibly still the most fun car ive owned (had a b20/v crx, h22 accord coupe, and '85 Corolla GT-S) handles great, accelerates nice and quick, it was just fun to drive. plus you get Subaru reliability. my aunt has a old legacy wagon that has 325,000miles on it and the only issus she has had are blown struts, leaky radiator, and a burned out alternator. she lives in montana and still drives it everyday all-year round. I've driven my friends Evo VIII when he first got it and i just wasnt too thrilled with it. i mean the thing looks sick and was fast but there is just something about subarus and turbo flat-fours that get to me

This is true. I always thought the STi was better myself. Because the engine is a rear wheel drive layout, more displacement, etc..

I have two close friends, one has an '06 STi with a bunch of bolt-ons, and a reflash. My other friend recently purchased an EVO 9, and all he has is turbo-back exhaust, and a reflash, the car runs consistent 12.6 @ 106mph, with a 1.8 60 foot. I feel the EVO is more mod friendly. My friend's EVO is faster than the STi. Granted, every car is different, but both these cars are brand new, and a prime example. Better bang for the buck, go with the EVO, and trust me, I thought the STi was better myself, but I guess not. Just my opinion.

Mike

I like both cars a lot personlly. I have a lot of friends who do or have owned evo's, so I've seen what a properly modded and maintained evo can do. Based on that, I'd probably go evo because I've seen the car perform, and I'm pretty much impressed by it even in stock form................and the new sti's are effin gross.
