About me; little turbo experience, more then ur average tuner, reads a lot about cars and car problems, wants a turbo kit for the hell of it cause I couldn't own the car I wanted that is stock w/ turbo.
Likes sohc because it's the underdog. beatean some turbo cars and B18C with my sohc... expanding to turbo territory!!!
I can't make a decision so I want you guys to help me make it!
First off I have D16z6 in my coupe with no internal mods and with misc. mods/ basic bolts with over 200k miles on it.
I want to force induc. the sucker until it blows for another rebuild. But I'm curious on which kit to put it on, no supercharger though. My friend had a Jackson on his SOHC coupe, it was okay pulling some S2K's, Mustangs, basic bolt GSRs, and swapped hatches, but he sure did snap a lot of belts though.
Plus I've heard turbo is a little more reliable then superchargers.
I want a kit that is complete or close to complete. A kit that will lay me down good times at the track, lets say close to mid 13's. Lay down good horsepower for a sohc, like @180- 210 at the wheels. Responsive for those light to light killer races... I don't street race, it's just for insurance for those who piss me off on the streets. A kit that is claimed street legal to get one time off my back. And a kit that will give me a good punch for passing big rigs when merging onto freeways.
Here's what Im looking for. Remember, all kits are for the SOHC Civic.
Greddy TD04H 15G. I don't think it comes complete. Price is @$1.5 g's
Turbonetics Kit for SOHC. I think it's complete. Price is @$3.4 g's
Edelbrock Turbo Kit #1502. I think it's complete also. Price is @$3.2 g's
Now Im leaning towards the Edelbrock because it's claimed to be street legal and claimed to be complete. I've read dyno results for the kit on a SOHC motor. It's around 170- 180 at the wheels. I think the turbo is just right for my needs, I could be wrong that's why I'm asking you guys
The Turbonetics Kit has a larger turbo for more power but I don't need that much. Plus I think it will put in more lag time. I think it's dynoed somewhere @180- 200 wheel horeses. And the Greddy kit isn't complete. I don't want to waste time buying extra parts.I know, I know. Why not just swap to a B18C? My reason is I want a turbo kit and I don't want to blow money on a B18C and slap on double the money to buy a turbo kit for it. I don't want to settle for thoes turbo kits on ebay for like $700- $900 because I heard it blows motors.
Im looking for opinions and advice, not FLAMES. If your experience with turbo for Hondas, that will really help. Or your just way to bright for turbos' that will help also.
Price Range for this project @ $3.5g's<------ money to spend
Thanx in ADVANCE!!!
