Getting a car from Canada, how do you do it?

Say I wanted to buy a car in Canada and bring it down to the states. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this or if there are special procedures you have to go though. The specific car I'm talking about is a cousin of ek civics, the Acura EL, witch raises some more questions. Since they never sold the EL in the states would I be able to register it here, or how would I go about getting an exemption to get it registered. I live in Illinois if that helps with were the law is concerned. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kage87

Im not too sure but the EL is almost 100 percent exact as the civic in the states. Only difference is the front end. The enigine and everything is exact so it wont be too hard to register. Actually, Canadian cars have a stricter crash test rating and so on too and that would help i guess. As for links or info, ill look.... But i dont think it will be hard.

Same thing as from Japan, maybe a LITTLE easier just because it doesn't have to go through shipping customs. Money can get you anything though.

As for 'they never sold it in the states', they never sold any of the skylines, or the s15's either but I know people with them, a lot of paper work and most likely a lot of money is what your looking at. Govt doesn't actually care about what engine you have, they just want there money.

Gotta take it up with your local DMV to get there exact regulations for your state. I know the WA one, but I'm sure it's different where your located.
