Its a small poor country...manufacturing takes significant investment and I dont think the DR is a place that is gonna compete with established cheap labor countries like the Phili islands or China....

In my opinion it looks like this company is rebadging Rotas and selling them as their own or mimicking Rotas casting methods at the very least....

Either way the rotas are proven wheels whereas the "akans" are not and are more of a "buyers risk" choice.

Ill take a look at their industry certifications to see if they comply to the same level that rota does

EDIT
here is a link to the Rota process and website...I couldnt find ANYTHING about AKAN the wheel maker.....someone want to post a link to AKANs site...if it exists?
I bet that you have never travelled to RD, and also I bet that you have never seen a few hoops AKAN!!!

First as for automivilismo this country is the number one in cars of luxury if you calculate persons' quantity for car of luxury you are going to obtain a good average (enzo, masserati, porsche, lamborghini, etc) ... the quality of the AKAN is very good only that you have not seen in person ... and while you continue speaking if you try you were continuing learning less than you know!!!

travel first and talk later!!!

Per capita stats? Really? So they have like what...3 ferraris on a tiny island and now they are balling out of control?

Please

AKAN = show us a link to their factory and their certifications

Till then they are rebadged Rotas being sold by some island boys as their own.

As far as seeing them in person? What the feck do I care about some rebadged cast cheapie wheels for? I have to travel to DR to see if some $50 wheels are good

As if

As far as per capita luxury --- the only people that can afford to drive are rich people so the cars they buy are nice....has little to do with the broke state of affairs the vast majority of the population in the DR live with everyday.

Hell most of them probably own/ride scooters vs cars

Either way...show us a link to AKAN and the WORLD WIDE STANDARDS they must adhere to or just shut your mouth already about DR. No one cares.

$20 says there are more people in LA than the entire country of DR ....

Hello, I am one of the representative of the brand AKAN Extreme Wheels.
I saw this forum and it interested me to write. Thanks to some of you that notice this new name in rims.
AKAN is an option JDM that in our country, DR, it has been well accepted and we have surpassed our expectations of sales since our client can pay for a JDM design at a very low price.
Already the brand is being taken to Puerto Rico, with a high level of acceptance.

Our manufacturers are in Taiwan and we have worried to take to our clients a product of high quality to compete with recognized brands and a standard of quality ISO9002.
In our country we have much influence in JDM styles since our market is very related to the Japanese market.

Any additional information we'll be glad to respond.
Thanks.
