Thumbs down castrol>mobil !!!

i checked my oil today, after 2500 KM or 1500 miles my oil is dirty to the point where it should be changed.

MEANWHILE i was showing people my dip stick from the castrol after 6000km or 3700miles asking how many km would you say is on this oil. everyone said its brand new oil you didnt put hardly any km on it. because it was as clean as it went in (basically)

anyone against this ? could the lower temps (around 5c over night and 10-15c during the day) cause it to get dirty ? i dont think so.....ill see about putting castrol syntec back in and keep an eye on it.

my theory, mobil supersyn just breaks down and burns, gets dirtier way faster then castrol. whats the deal ?

i prefer castrol over mobil 1 but thats just me. but i rather use ROYAL PURPLE over any other motor oils. either mobil 1 or castro synthetic stays clean for about the same mileage it just how you drive the car. like if your a stop n go type of driver or more of a commute freeway driving. like me, i do more freeway driving than stop n go's so my oil stays pretty clean for a while plus i don't really take my car beyond 5000 rpm.

Looking at your oil is not a good way to judge it's condition. The only good way is to take a sample and send it out to have it tested. This analysis will tell you how many miles are left in the oil, what's in it (say, how much antifreeze or fuel has contaminated your oil) ect.

Simply put if you look at oil and see it's black, that just means it's doing one of it's jobs of keeping the motor clean. I wouldn't say there's a "bad" fully synthetic oil anyway, just some are better than others. All are much better than any conventional oil. I do think Castrol is better than Mobil1, but you should run each one of the same weight for 5000 miles or so and have each one tested.

But the BEST synthetics start out as far from conventional as possible, as far as base stock. Amsoil, Redline, and Eneos are all very good. I'm an Amsoil user personally.

id like to look into amsoil, and if it was free and i knew where to get it done id test my oils after i change them everytime to so how long i could have gone.

1 thing i did notice, my buddy got his em swapped with an old 92 sir2, i opend the oil cap like usual and noticed it was dirty in there. he ran some mobil syn and i checked and the engine is very clean. maybe i didnt look properly the first time or syn is some serious engine de-gummer ahah
