Higher octane is just to prevent knock with raised compression/advanced ignition timing...if you dont raise the comp or get crazy with the timing you really wont need high octane If you do E85 is cheaper than race gas and is 101-102 octane or so....youll need to use more of it to make the same power but its much cheaper than race gas

I used 100 octane on certain races & usually shave 1-2 seconds in times. I best way to feel optimo gains is by using all the lower octane fuel possible & than add 2 gallons of higher octane. Also make sure you use unlead NOT leaded fuel. BTW that's referring to my K20, I haven't tried it on my LS. < maybe this weekend, since I'm running the DC4 >

well 80% of the time i put in sunoco 94 octane, decent gain over when i first got the car and used 87
i want to try race gas in the b16a i-h-e see if it opens it up a bit more.since its not tuned for anything all this high octane is doing is prevent knock ? 8500rpm on 105 octane would cause less wear apposed to 91 ?
