That GT-R is going to be insane but the price is just so high. I hoped they would've tried hitting the sub>50k but man, for those that can afford 70k+ they are getting a HELLUVA car. oh well, even at less than $40k I probably couldn't have afforded it

On a side note, i'm unsure of all the details of the laws and such, but since nissan is now marketing the GT-R worldwide will it open the door for older Skylines to be imported and be registered w/o the heartache of knowing someone who has a cousin whose neighbor's uncle can hook it up? Or since this isn't a 'true' newer generation of the Skyline will it not matter? Just out of curiosity...

I think the only reason it is being sold world wide is because the new VQ V6 platform has much better emission standards than the old inline 6. I don't see it changing the process of registering older skylines into the US.

agreed.

also the fact that it's based on the G35/350Z chassis. both cars which we already have.

Exactly.

The crash standards and emissions are what blocked the R32/33/34 and even the S13/14/15 Silvias from being sold here in the US. Would have cost Nissan a fortune to make those cars pass all the tests and sell them here.

I would imagine it DOESN'T stand for "high revving." After all, does "DE" stand for "Dual Over Head Cam" somehow?

I know, but notice how they don't have ANYTHING to do with each other like "high revving" would? I think you missed where I was pointing that one.

Its a bit ridiculous but I do believe it stands for high revolution or high revving.

It has continuously variable valve timing control (CVTC) with hydraulic on intake cam and electromagnetic on exhaust cam and double overhead cam (DOHC) and 4 valves per cylinder with microfinished camshafts. Redline is 7500 rpm. The intake is a high-flow tuned induction system. It has NDIS (Nissan direct ignition system).
It's for High Revolution, as it spins higher than the old VQ. All the newer VQs for performance has the HR at the end and not DE.
