You can get them here as long as you know where to get it.

Still not 100% clear on how to convert it to RWD though, since the ones that have done it will not tell anyone what parts they used or how they clearanced a certain part for the distributor/CAS.

this poll is good, but i honestly recommend buying a s13 sr motor, take it apart and rebuild its internals, forged pistons rods, new bearings, metal head gasket and cams, because while the s13 redtops and black tops are the same internals, they are the cheapest ones to buy, and if you plan on making good efficient power that would be reliable i recommend building it, the stock rods can handle large hp numbers in the mid 400hp range, the pistons though can not.

also yeah out of the box the s14 and s15 sr has more power, but best bang for buck, s13 sr20det is good.

anyother questions feel free to pm me. i'm an active member on zilvia.

The redtop and blacktop S13s do not have the same exact internals.

Most of the blacktop S13 motors were equipped with 54C hardware, which is the same hardware found in the RNN14, aka GTi-R SR, so they're a little better/newer design than the redtop stuff.

Also, stock bottom end redtop motors have seen upwards of 600rwhp without blowing up like you mentioned, with a few more motors making over 500rwhp back in the day during the "stock bottom end power war".

However, I must stress that, while the bottom ends on those motors were stock, their heads were stuff with cams, valve springs, aftermarket intake manifolds, etc. The works. But most importantly, they were tuned by the best SR tuners in the industry, which is why those motors stayed together.

Be warned, a mickey mouse tune will blow your motor up, even at stock boost levels, so don't go around telling everyone SRs suck, because more than likely, it is the tuner who sucks.

None of those?

You can see about a VQ swap, that's legal, and plenty of parts out there for it. Light motor, decently stout in NA form, and really stout if you build it and go FI.

I dunno about the laws in CA though, so I don't know if the "engine swaps must be of DOT approved engines from the same manufacturer of a newer year" law also applies there or not.

You're gonna have to look that up.

As for the KA-T route, it's not a swap, since the motor comes with the car, so you just throw a turbo on there.

-s15 has a ball bearing t28 turbo. i wouldnt waste your money on an s15 motor.

if you plan to upgrade cams, theres no need for VTC. so thats why id choose the S13 blacktop.

CA18 sucks for lack of parts and you lose 600cc. fuck that.

i like high revving motors, thus no KA with its bad bore to stroke ratio. SR is a square ratio (86.0mm x 86.0mm) much easier and reliable revving.
