My 2004 WRX

Hello all. I'm a huge Subaru fan now after being heavily into my Honda Civic. I had a blast in that thing but after test driving one of these all wheel drive turbo beauties I had to make one mine.

My ride of choice was a fully stock, untouched 2004 WRX with about 40'000 miles on it. I bought it November of 06 and have been loving every minute of it.

My mod list is a joke at the moment consisting of very cheap interior / exterior mods I bought to make myself a little different from the others.

I've mainly been known in my area for having the dirtiest WRX for miles. I discovered a muddy pit one day with a couple buddies of mine in their large SUV's and I thought it fun to check out my ride in the mud. If you've never tried, you're missing out. If you've got a lot to lose, I wouldn't recommend it. To date I consider myself lucky. I've ripped off my front left corner splitter twice, crack both fender liners and ruptured the catalytic converter on the stock down pipe. I say lucky because the ruptured cat caused me to order my latest mods that are still showing up for instillation.

Naturally with the upgraded exhaust my off road ventures will be kept minimal. I've gotten the nick name Wreckless Hype around my work for my actions in my car. It probably need not be explain, but hey, why not? I've yet to wreck it on my off road ventures and I've been quite reckless with my car. Work buddies are always eager to see what I do next or how deep a puddle I hit or how covered in mud I end up. So Wreckless Hype kind of stuck.

Like I said, I always poked around this forum when modding my Honda Civic. I had a B18 GSR in a 96 Hatch that I gutted and had a lot of fun with. It got old though and I decided to upgrade. I think I made a wise choice.

When I get some pictures worth posting, I will post them

Sounds like a great car, one question though, why do a catless up pipe but a catted turbo back? Catless all the way is the way to make quick and easy power with our cars. You need an EMS to turn off the CEL's but if you plan on owning the car for a while you may as well get an Accessport or equivalent right away so you can expand with it.
I'm glad to see you are using your Subie for off-road, I am not that type of owner but I'm glad there are people like that out there.

I decided to run one cat strictly for emissions. This thing is due for inspection in November and I want it to pass. When I first bought the car, it came with a catless up pipe and passed just fine with no CEL. The woman called me from the dealership and brought this to my attention after about a month. I opted to have the cat put back in just in case.

So I'm not terribly worried about the cat in my setup. From what I hear, it should be fine for inspection and shouldn't throw any trouble codes.

I have an AP sitting on my desk right now waiting for my WRX's new mods to be completed. The AP should help release a few more ponies for my setup and from what I hear, it should be pretty noticeable while retaining it's legality.

Maybe later on I'll do catless, but for now, I'm going to enjoy what I got.

I'll post some pics for you guys as soon as I can (25 post minimum).

As for the exhaust, it went very well. I was impressed. Took me about 6 hours, hahahaha. It sounds incredible.

The car pulls like crazy through 1st and 2nd gear. It's hard to get past that around here as I'm already doing 60mph and the cops are everywhere around here.

The turbo spools quicker and is quite loud.

Fitting was great except for one small issue. The manifold hits the frame. Where the skid plate mounts on the front far side with the plastic clips? The part of the frame thats separate and shaped like a U kinda. It rattles on the front and right side. I'm going to have a shop lift the car and hammer the edges up. It's not heavy contact, just heavy decelerating.

More bad news was the Access Port I have was misrepresented and is for a 2.5L, not my car. Need to get rid of this and get the right one.

Todays mod was just a minor fun thing for me. I hate the hood prop so I ripped it out and installed bonnet dampers. I love those things.

Within the next week, I will be picking up my ARC Intake Box and have that installed. I got a crazy good deal on a brand new one and couldn't pass it up.

As soon as I can get some pictures up, I'll get you guys some mud shots, rex color(s), exhaust install, intake box and bonnet dampers.

Day 1 on my real time map.

Precision did a fantastic job on my car.

Best $500 I ever spent.

I will actually post my mod list since now I have something under "engine"

Expect pics soon. I got my exhaust install, bonnet dampers, intake, oil catch can, dyno sheet, and my dyno pulls on video. Should be up the next couple days.

Porno, you had one of the sickest Civic I've seen on here, what changed? What did you pick up? Rex? Legacy?

Anyway, with Stage 2 and header and up pipe, ARC intake box, Access Port and a nice tune, I still get about 310mpt. Most all of my driving, even to work is on the highway, as I live on one. My ride to work is only 3 miles but it's all 55 - 65mph zones with lights.

Access Port has a handy feature that will install an economy mode for your ECU. It'll drop your boost and changes up your ignition timing. Obviously it's not for sporty driving.

I will put up pics as soon as possible. I have tons but there's a 25 post minimum for that I've come to see...

BTW, I'm not posting my numbers (even tho terribly low) without posting my pics or dyno sheet.
