whats wrong with your motor?

No WRX motor would go for 850 unless it had problems.

Though I have seen some working EJ205's going for a tad more than 1G before.

i spun a barring the seals in the turbo were leaking and i lost a lot of oil and then spun it, so I've looked for a rebuild kit and the cheapest i can find is 2300 and then i would need a new turbo(400 or so) or rebuild turbo(600 to 800)

people practically give away their stock td04 so that corrects one issue. the other easy solution is to buy a complete shortblock from the dealer new and already assembled, swap your heads and you are back on the road. you can also bump up to 2.5 then.

I vote you do whatever you can to scrape together the $1600 for a new dealer 2.5L shortblock. As was already said, people do practically give away their TD04's so you could run stock turbo on the 2.5 for a while 'til you can afford to upgrade.

As for the pricing of WRX EJ20's....I see them right at a grand from time to time. You could always go back in time and do an older version EJ20G STI swap for $1200.

To swap to a 2.5 i would have to swap tranys, lsd, and also a ecu...... that all adds up. but with all that im also thinking i would have to change my CV's....?

Who says you need to change all that? A 2.5L bottom end would run just fine with 2.0 heads. The 2.0 ECU would run the motor pefect because it was still communicating with 2.0 heads. You are mistaken, you would have to replace none of those things, unless you drive like a madman and break stuff routinely.

EJ20G is not V7 STI. Better check up on your research.
