RS engine?

Hi, im completely new to imprezas and im considering getting one. I was just wondering if the 2.5l they put in the 03 impreza is the same as the 2.5l they put in the wrk minus the turbo setup? I could afford a regular rs then save for a nice turbo setup but a wrx or sti is too high on insurance and too step of a price right now. sorry if this is completely stupid.

Not stupid, im a n/a driver so not super knowledgeable but the engine is idealy the same minus some ratios obviously. same set up, just one is already set up for the turbo and the power it puts down. You can add a turbo but will be limted on boost. If your looking for power, dont build it yourself and just buy a stock/already turbo's car. I am bais but buy a forester xt (turbo edition) and work off that, same deal but cheaper on insurance. Can be easily modded like any wrx/impreza.
