Tokico Illumina Suspension System ILK202

i need a new suspension system for my car and I don't like the aftermarket coil overs on it i found a set of Tokico Illumina Suspension System ILK202 that i can get my hands on for about 350$ brand new for all around. But as it is I am new to the import world and all these japanese brands escape me. I see this brand posted in a few threads. My question is are they any good handling wise, as I take corners at pretty high rates.

I also need struts, option racing? Vibrant? or tenzo?

mind you money is an issue the ORs run about 15$ lol the vibrant are about 50 and the tenzo are 100

so total packages im anywhere from 30 to 200 but i has a discount for about 50% and im considering the tenzos just need to know about the brand.

any advice is very helpful. I am in no small way a sus tech

I had a set of Tokico's on my old EG. They were on the car for probably 2 years and then they blew. The car never really drove amazing, pretty bouncy. ( I had Ground Control coilovers as well)

I would say some Koni Yellows or KYB AGX's regarding your struts. Springs - well that depends on how much you're wanting to spend, what kind of drop you want, etc.

not looking for too much of a drop a lot of hills here in PA and its easy to bottom out as far as money wise lol im a broke teenager on minimum wage just looking for something to make the ride a lot smoother like speed bumps scare the hell out of me. but I should be getting a hold of another teg soon and I'm swapping for the stock suspension for now until i can save up for a decent set-up looking to spend under 1k closer to 500 if possible

Swapping to stock to get rid of crappy suspension, good.
Saving up for something better, also good.
Spending only 500-1000 on 'decent' suspension, not good.

500-1000 will not get you very far. If you are looking for a good setup, consider Koni shocks (yellows), and Ground Control sleeve coilovers, or even just Tein S.Tech springs with the Koni's.

Tokico Illumina's are ok, I guess. They are more along the lines of stock but only a tiny bit firmer. They don't like to be on lowered cars from my experience. My friend had them on his AW11 MR2 along with the Eibach Pro Kit. They blew out a month into it. He had them warrantied, but the same thing happened, though they lasted a few months the second time around.

Koni shocks are much more durable, and can be ordered to be valved to match your springs and car. Many street cars use them, as well as many track oriented cars. Both with positive results.

Another option would be to get a higher quality coilover. Something like KW or HKS, or spend some bing bucks and get a custom Bilstein or Ohlin setup. (We're talking 2500+ for something like that)

Just because you are in college, doesn't mean you have to cheap out on your car. Keep saving and buy quality parts. I would MUCH rather have a car on baller suspension and nothing else, than a car that is half-assed on cheap suspension and having a terrible ride height.

Koni actually has some pretty baller setups for Integras and stuff too, but they are more race oriented, which means you will probably have to send the dampers in for service at the end of each race season.

For your needs, I think the Koni + Ground Control route would be the best for you.

IMO I think Ground control coilovers aren't the way to go for a smoother ride. I've had some and I'll never own another set of their coilovers, unless I decide to go with something I don't plan on driving on the street.

Although, I live in Michigan, the roads here are horrible.

From what I have read Tokico Illuminas are good for maximas..
Adjustable stiffness and seem to have a good ride.

The Ground Control Topmounts relocates shock upward 24mm to allow extra suspension travel.

so now if i bought this would I need anything else? if i am correct it comes with the coilovers already or no? lol i really dont know it doesn't go into detail but they're in the picture lol
