JDM EF Hood Latch Install

By: schwanginpt

Ok.. i know this is gonna happen to everyone that gets an EF8 front end Your bolting it all up, and its pretty easy, then you go to close the hood with the latch on and DOH!.. it doesnt shut. Yup. it sucks. But i used the JDM rad support? Sorry, it doesn't matter. They (in shape) are identical. the whole USDM front is different than the JDM and what happens is the latch is too far forward on the hood.

So I'm gonna show you what we ended up doing to get mine to work. Most of the descriptions are in the photos.

1. we started with the rad support itself. we tried shimming it forward.

2. well that didnt work completley, so we took off the lower latch and modified that using a grinder to push it forward more.

3. that was closer, but still not enough, so then we moved the latch on the hood BACK to get it to line up

this was almost there. A couple good tugs on the rad support itself to pull it forward a smig more and adjusting the spring on the hood to line up with the lower latch. a couple test releases and it all was good.
