EK Coilovers

1. Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Raise and support the car on jackstands.
Remove the wheel. Unbolt the brake hose bracket from the shock (if applicable). If there is any other wiring that will be in the way of the strut removal, such as for the ABS speed sensor, carefully disconnect it and move it out of the way.

2. Remove the damper fork pinch bolt.

3. Now remove the through-bolt that connects the damper fork to the lower control arm.

4. Remove the damper fork from the shock absorber. If it is stuck, carefully tap it off with a hammer.

5. Support the shock absorber (an assistant would be helpful here) and unscrew the upper mounting nuts DO NOT unscrew the big nut in the center-that's the piston rod nut; it secures the upper mount and harnesses the coil spring! That comes later!

6. Guide the shock assembly down and out.

This is what you should have in front of you.

7. A spring compressor is a must in this sitiuation.

8. After compressing the spring, (evenly of course) loosen the center nut with a wrench and alen or torx wrench.

9. Disassemble the shock and you should have this.

Using Ground Control, I had to make some cuts to the dust boot and bump stop.

10. Replace the rubber insulator but don't forget the washer.

11. Here is what you should have left over.

Installed:

12. Now for the rear.
Working in the luggage compartment, remove the trim and loosen (but don't remove) the two upper mounting nuts.

13. Remove the lower shock mounting bolt (nut may be welded to strut)

The same rules as the front apply to the rear.

Installed:

Here are the left overs.

NOTE: You will want to check your alignment and correct your camber after installing. Refer to the "Camber Correction" thread in this forum.

14. Wash car and enjoy!
-Stock VS. Dropped-

I hope this helps. I haven't seen a DIY suspension thread yet and I know we have some stock riders in here.
